  1. I think this essay definitely analyzes all aspects of the advertisement. I like how it points out the duality of a singular message, however, I think that it could be improved by possibly examining more angles of the audience. I think the ad also appeals to children, which isn't really mentioned in the essay. Structurally, I find the essay pretty well constructed.

  2. Michelle definitely hits on all the points that were called for by the rubric. The essay flows pretty well and each point feeds off of eaach other. Jennifer makes a very good point. The maternal aspect of the ad can lend itself to children and i think this is point that worth spending a paragraph on. However I do completely agree with her that the character of the flinstones that was used for the ad was analyzed. She makes a very good point that wilma flinstone was the smart choice considering the magazine that the ad was in. After her analysis i clearly understood why she concluded what she did about the effectiveness of the ad. Nice job

I enjoyed reading your essay. You've done a great job at analyzing the advertisement thoroughly. I like how you started off with a broad statement and then created a focus on your particular ad. The second paragraph was the only summary you made for the ad, which was smart because if you had gone on the way you did, it would have been too much summary. Your descriptions were detailed enough to create an image in my mind, so I'd say that you've done a successful job with that.
The contrast between colors and the cool vs. smart mom was an intelligent comparison that really helped your argument to prove that it was a successful with the message it was conveying. Also, the allusions that you made to the ad about other movements to prevent obesity was quite impressive, and I'd say that that helps make this single ad seem part of a larger scale within the essay. Furthermore, the differences you point out between the cool and smart mom creates a prominent balance in the ad, and shows that one can be healthy while enjoying a delicious meal. Overall, you did a great job at proving your argument to be true while still raising issues about the ad.
